At Lambson Innovate, responsible timber sourcing is at the heart of our environmental strategy. We recognise that the global timber trade has a critical role to play in reducing deforestation and protecting biodiversity, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards. Even though we’re not yet legally required to.

That’s why we are fully compliant with the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR) and are actively preparing for full compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) before it comes into effect in June 2026.

Understanding the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR)

Introduced to combat illegal logging, the EUTR prohibits illegally harvested timber and timber products from entering the EU market. It requires companies to apply robust due diligence systems to verify the legality of all timber products.

Being fully EUTR compliant means:

  • All Lambson Innovate timber is sourced legally and responsibly.
  • Our supply chain meets the EU’s strict verification and documentation requirements.
  • Clients can trade our timber products within the EU with full confidence in their legality and traceability.

This compliance provides assurance not just to regulators, but also to our clients who operate in industries where supply chain transparency is non-negotiable.

Preparing for the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

The EUDR, which comes into effect in June 2026, goes a step further than the EUTR. It requires full traceability of timber products to their exact place of harvest, including geo-tagging to verify compliance with deforestation-free requirements.

We are already working towards EUDR compliance by implementing advanced traceability systems that:

  • Assign a unique identification marker to every timber shipment at its forest of origin.
  • Track each shipment through processing, transport, and manufacturing.
  • Link to documentation detailing harvest locations, dates, and compliance with local forestry regulations.

By preparing now, we aim to ensure a seamless transition to EUDR compliance well ahead of the deadline.

The Role of FSC Certification in Supporting EUTR and EUDR Compliance

Lambson Building Products is fully FSC certified, ensuring that our sourcing aligns with responsible forest management, meeting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria.

  • Clients can request FSC certification documentation for any project.
  • This transparency helps businesses maintain their own sustainability commitments and comply with EUTR, EUDR, and other global environmental standards.

Our FSC-certified sourcing strengthens our compliance efforts by guaranteeing that all timber is harvested responsibly and legally.

Why EUTR and EUDR Compliance Matters

Deforestation is a major driver of biodiversity loss, climate change, and environmental degradation. Compliance with EUTR and EUDR protects our planet’s forests for future generations.

For our clients, working with a supplier that meets these standards means:

  • Reduced legal and reputational risks.
  • Alignment with ESG and corporate sustainability commitments.
  • Access to fully traceable, responsibly sourced timber for use in regulated markets.

We understand that many of our clients have their own environmental frameworks to uphold. Whether it’s meeting EUTR obligations today or preparing for EUDR tomorrow, we can provide supply chain documentation, FSC certification records, and expert advice on regulatory requirements.

Our team is here to make responsible timber sourcing straightforward, so you can focus on delivering high-quality projects with minimal environmental impact. Reach out to us if you require any information about our efforts towards combatting deforestation.
