The circular economy represents a shift from traditional “take-make-dispose” manufacturing towards systems that minimise waste, extend product lifecycles, and regenerate natural resources.

While many manufacturers consider the creation of a recyclable product to be a success for the environment, we remain ever mindful that only 6% of the world’s plastic and 68% of the world’s paper is recycled.

That’s why recycling is always our last resort. Where possible, we aim to reuse or repurpose waste materials first, and none of our waste goes to landfill.

From material sourcing to manufacturing processes and product design, our implementation of circular economy principles is ingrained into everything we do, proving that quality products don’t need to come at an environmental expense.

Waste Minimisation and Resource Recovery

Lambson Innovate orchestrates waste management with absolute precision:

  • 10% is transformed into wooden bearers for packaging. We produce approximately 1,500 of these palettes annually
  • 40% finds a new purpose through our recovery partner. Mytum Selby sort through all of our waste and redirect salvageable materials for new applications
  • The remaining 50% of our wood waste and paper packaging becomes fuel that heats our workshops, creating a closed-loop energy system

This comprehensive approach ensures zero waste reaches landfill.

Precision Manufacturing for Minimal Waste

Our made-to-order production model eliminates waste for our clients too. We have no minimum order quantity, so clients don’t need to order (and waste) more products than they need. Every component is made to exact specifications and can be ordered down to a quantity of one, eradicating overproduction and surplus inventory.

Our technological capabilities ensure that, even during the production phase, errors are minimised to avoid waste. Our machines can be programmed to precision, down to 0.001mm, and our adhesives are applied with accuracy to within a gram per square metre. This minimises material waste and virtually eliminates error-related scrap.

Products Designed to Last

Successful circular economy practices stem from the design stage, where material specifications determine a product’s lifecycle and environmental impact. Lambson Innovate designs with longevity as a fundamental principle. Our materials and techniques create panels that outlast industry standards, extending their functional life.

When a panel does eventually reach the end of its initial intended use, its lifespan doesn’t end there. Lambson products are engineered for potential rebirth. By creating quality products, we create scope for resale potential, as items can be refurbished or repurposed rather than discarded. Our timber products and coatings are also recyclable, ensuring materials can re-enter production streams. This approach completes the “Make, Use, Reuse, Renew, Recycle, Redesign” cycle that characterises truly circular operations.

Our solid surface Corian solutions also showcase this philosophy. These surfaces can be re-fabricated over existing worktops, reducing the need for complete replacement during renovations. The material revitalises through re-sanding, erasing years of wear and scratches. Even the material’s composition supports circularity, as Corian incorporates recycled content and aluminium byproducts combined with resin.

A Win-Win Approach to the Circular Economy

At Lambson Innovate, we view our circular economy implementation as an ongoing journey. We continuously evaluate our processes, materials, and designs to identify further opportunities for closing resource loops.

Our approach yields multiple business advantages alongside environmental benefits. Extended product lifecycles enhance client satisfaction and strengthen our reputation. Waste reduction and energy efficiency also generates cost savings, allowing us to remain competitive while maintaining premium quality.
