At Lambson Innovate, we believe our people are our greatest asset. Whilst this sentiment might appear in many corporate statements, our actions demonstrate a genuine commitment to placing employees at the heart of everything we do.
We recognise that a successful business can only built upon the wellbeing, development, and engagement of its team members. This philosophy led to our transformative partnership with Think Mental Health – an award-winning mental health support initiative that provides training and staff support.

Pioneering Mental Health Support
In 2023, Lambson Innovate’s directors identified a significant knowledge gap regarding mental health support within the organisation. Rather than implementing a superficial solution, they took decisive action by partnering with Think Mental Health to develop a substantive, long-term strategy.
While many forward-thinking companies deliver mental health training to their management teams, Lambson Innovate made an unprecedented commitment to upskill every single team member, regardless of their job description. Through our partnership with Think Mental Health, we’ve delivered comprehensive awareness training across the entire workforce, with all employees having completed both Level 1 and Level 2 programmes. For those who wish to take their knowledge further and become mental health first aiders, we’re supporting their progression to Level 3 certification.

Paul, our dedicated representative from Think Mental Health, visits our premises monthly to engage with the team. These visits create opportunities for one-on-one conversations in a confidential environment, where employees can discuss any concerns affecting their wellbeing – either professionally or personally. If necessary, we arrange additional support tailored to individual needs.
This holistic approach to mental health awareness and support earned Lambson Innovate the prestigious Think Mental Health ‘Above and Beyond’ award – a recognition that reflects our belief that mental wellbeing deserves the same priority and attention as physical safety in the workplace.
Investing in Personal Development
Our collaboration with Think Mental Health forms part of a broader investment into our team’s development.
The technical aspects of professional development remain crucial, of course, and we continuously upskill our teams to ensure they possess the specialised knowledge required to excel in their roles. This commitment to technical excellence creates confidence and competence, both of which contribute significantly to workplace satisfaction and mental wellbeing.
However, personal skills are equally vital for both professional success and personal fulfilment. Through Think Mental Health and other specialist partners, we offer comprehensive training in:
- Communication skills that foster understanding and reduce workplace tension
- Resilience techniques that equip team members to navigate challenges
- Diversity, equality, and inclusion awareness that creates a respectful environment for all
- Sexual harassment awareness training to ensure everyone feels safe
- Teamwork strategies that strengthen team bonds
- Stress management practices that prevent burnout
The effectiveness of this approach is evident in our remarkably low employee turnover rates. While our industry typically experiences high workforce mobility, Lambson Innovate proudly counts numerous team members with careers spanning three decades or more. This longevity speaks volumes about the supportive culture we’ve created.
While business growth is an obvious marker for success, we consider this to be our most proud accomplishment.

Employee Ownership: Structural Support for Wellbeing
Perhaps the most tangible demonstration of our commitment to our people is Lambson Innovate’s status as a legally registered Employee-Owned Trust (EOT). This structure means that, unlike traditional corporate models, our company is entirely owned by the people who work within it.
This ownership model creates a direct link between company success and personal benefit, with employees joining the trust and receiving tax-free bonuses after completing just one year of service. Beyond the financial advantages, employee ownership fosters a profound sense of investment in the company’s direction and achievements.
The psychological benefits are profound. When employees know they are working for their own benefit – not just for the will of distant shareholders – it transforms their relationship with work. Decisions become more meaningful, responsibility becomes more personal, and success becomes more rewarding.
