At Lambson Innovate, we believe that true innovation starts with the people that work behind the scenes, so we partner with likeminded companies that share our commitment to excellence, safety, and sustainability.

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on one of our key suppliers: Kleiberit.

Kleiberit is a family-owned SME based in Germany, and they are our predominant supplier of advanced adhesive solutions. Their products are integral to our manufacturing processes, from flat lamination and profile wrapping to edge banding and assembly. They might go unnoticed by the end user (as all good adhesives should), but their impact on our performance and product integrity is impossible to overstate.

The problem with standard PUR adhesives

In 2007, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), backed by the European Union, launched the REACH regulation. REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals.

REACH categorised many forms of adhesive as potentially harmful and carcinogenic chemicals due to isocyanate content, so we decided to explore smarter, safer, and more sustainable options to protect our team. Kleiberit were instrumental in facilitating this.

From the very beginning, their team were hands-on in our R&D efforts, helping us to transition to micro-emission polyurethane reactive (ME PUR) adhesives, which offer exceptional performance and a drastically reduced health risk. Kleiberit’s ME adhesives contain just 0.1% isocyanates — well within the safety threshold, with no health warnings required.

Cleaner Chemistry, Stronger Bonds

Kleiberit’s ME PUR adhesives use advanced cross-linking properties to provide incredible stability across extreme temperatures – from -40°C to 140°C – along with superb chemical and moisture resistance. Not only are they safer than standard PUR adhesives, they’re stronger too.

We don’t cut corners, and we refuse to compromise on safety or sustainability. Kleiberit enables us to uphold our high standards. Their adhesives allow us to deliver superior results without exposing our team or the planet to unnecessary harm.

Together, we’re demonstrating what’s possible when innovation is guided by integrity. And while their products may remain invisible within ours, their value couldn’t be clearer to us.

A Bond Built on Shared Values

When Lambson made the strategic shift towards ME PUR adhesives, it wasn’t just a technical change. It was a statement of intent.

As a forward-thinking, innovation-led company, we always try to partner with businesses and suppliers that share our approach to continuous improvement.

Like Lambson, Kleiberit acknowledges that sustainability and performance should go hand in hand. They are continually pushing the boundaries of green chemistry and working towards a circular economy model. They’re currently in the process of replacing petrochemical materials with bio-based alternatives, even incorporating recycled plastics (such as ground-up bottles) into their formulations.

Lambson is proud to be among the first manufacturers lined up to trial these next-generation adhesives once testing is complete.

We’ve loved working with David and the Lambson team. Like us, they’re a company that doesn’t shy away from technological innovation. They embrace the new and bring it into the future. They show that what’s traditional, tried, and tested isn’t always what’s best, and they’re always on the look out for ways to improve. We look forward to working with them in the years to come, as they continue to improve and expand upon their product offerings
